June MyGlam Bag Review!

I'm still a MyGlam subscriber, and I got my Glam bag. I opened it and took pictures for you guys, and here's my review! Sorry it's late, I seemingly got my bag a couple days later than usual this month. Apologies for the lack of posts recently (finals, bleh), but it's summer now so I promise I'll be more active!

First off, MyGlam is still using these plastic packages (the gray splotches are the product of me editing out my address, just by the way). I really wish they would switch to recyclable cardboard boxes, like Birchbox.  It'd be much more eco friendly. Anyway, on to the contents of the bag!

There's some coupon type things from the Living Proof hair product line and philosophy, and there's a glitterbomb of a bag. The coupons aren't really worth much, just an offer of a discount set from the Living Proof line, and free shipping from philosophy. The bag is nice, it seems bigger than previous bags and I like the snap buckle as compared to the zip bags we got in the past.

The contents of the bag include:
-Marbella Permanent Eyeliner Pen in Black
-NYX Round Lipstick in Power
-Philosophy Take a Deep Breath Oil-Free Energizing Oxygen Cream Gel Moisturizer
-Living Proof frizz Nourishing Styling Cream

I'll go over the contents individually now, with a mini review for each!

Marbella Permanent Eyeliner Pen in Black:
This was actually awesome, since I actually don't own a liquid eyeliner. I've always been happy with my gel eyeliner, but it definitely doesn't hurt to have the option of liquid eyeliner as well. It's medium pigmented, not perfect but decent. I have to layer it to get a nice dark black line. Still, definitely a solid item in this month's bag!

(from top to bottom: one layer, two layers, three layers)

NYX Round Lipstick in Power:
These have gotten so many fantastic reviews! I was so excited to see this as part of this month's bag. I really like the color I got as well, it's a milky mauve pink, if that makes sense. This particular lipstick has a satin finish. It looks like a nude pink on me, since I'm a bit tanner than usual at the moment. It's super creamy and moisturizing, and I previously didn't own a nude lipstick. I was just so excited about this, definitely my favorite item from this month's bag! I at first thought it might be similar to Lancome's Love It! but when swatched, Power was much lighter, pinker, and milkier than Love It! which was much more mauve.

Love it on top, Power on bottom

Philosophy Take a Deep Breath Oil-Free Energizing Oxygen Cream Gel Moisturizer:
I personally don't really want skincare in my bag. I guess I'll use this when I travel. But I don't like Philosophy that much, their products have broken me out previously. I didn't really like receiving this in my Glam bag.

Living Proof frizz Nourishing Styling Cream:
I've always wanted to try a product from this line! I'm actually quite excited to give this a go, and the size of this is actually quite generous. I'm very happy with this particular product.

Overall, I pretty much loved this month's bag! A great combination of skincare, hair products (which I don't generally like, but this one I liked), and makeup! MyGlam really seems to be steadily improving their service, and I'm definitely going to stay a subscriber until next month!

May MyGlam Bag Review!

This is my May Glam Bag! I got it today, and was super excited! I wish MyGlam would make their packaging recyclable like Birchbox does, though, the bubble wrap just seems so wasteful! Anyway, I'm still so-so about this month's box. Keep reading to see why!

The wasteful plastic packaging

MyGlam finally stopped including all the random coupons in their packages, which to me mostly seemed like advertisements for different companies. I personally found them annoying and they pretty much all went into the recycling. I'm not really into this month's bag pattern, which is the kisses. I really wish they would either vary the size of the bags or stop including them, they're simply too small for me to use (I bring a lot of makeup with me when I travel).

Here's the contents of the box. I'll now go over what I think of each individual item.

Miss Beauty Nail Bling:
I personally don't like the peel-off stick-on nails, just because I find them quite annoying to apply and not very long lasting. I'd rather use traditional nail polish to paint my nails, thank you very much. Nevertheless, it would have been a nice inclusion if not for the pattern, which is absolutely not my style in any way. I ended up giving these to my younger sister. Nice thought, but the pattern is just tacky in my opinion.

Philosophy Love Sweet Love Fragrance "Spray":
"Spray" is in quotes, because this frankly isn't a spray. It's a perfume vial with a cap. But anyway, this was nice. I don't really love getting perfume samples, since I'm VERY picky about my perfume and to this day still only have one perfume that I've liked enough to purchase and wear daily. But this one surprisingly smells quite good. I thought this was a really nice inclusion.

myGlam Concealer & Defining Eyeliner Brushes:
I'm pretty neutral on these. I've been using the angled eyeliner brush they sent last time for my eyeliner, since my MAC 208 went and hid in a corner or something, since I can't find it. I already have a concealer brush I like from EcoTools, but I guess I could rotate them. These are apparently the last brushes, so hopefully these will soon be replaced by a makeup product. These definitely weren't my favorite.

Studio Gear Complete Color Lipstick in Warm & Cozy:
My absolute favorite product of the bunch. However, I was hoping for a pink shade, since I wear a lot of pink lipstick. But I ended up with this shade, which is brown-burgundy. I took one look at the tube and mentally winced. I swatched it (I have a swatch a couple pictures down) and still felt sad. So I tried applying it sheerly to my lips, and it is actually really, really pretty! Nothing I would wear during the day, but definitely for a more refined look going out. Worn sheerly, it's so pretty! I'm so glad they sent me this color - the point of these sample bags is to try new products, after all. It feels really moisturizing when I apply, I absolutely love this!

This month's bag was a solid one. Still not up to par with their December and January bags, but much better than their March bag, which was just plain terrible. I think this one is a tiny bit better than their May bag. I haven't heard a ton of customer service complaints recently, and I myself haven't had any issues. Hopefully they're doing a better job of sorting those out now. If MyGlam continues to better their service incrementally, as they are doing now, I will definitely stay a subscriber!

March MyGlam Bag!

I'm never sure whether to call this a MyGlam bag or my Glam bag. I'll go with my Glam bag for now. Anyway, I received my Glam bag today - mine shipped out on Friday and arrived today. They ship from somewhere in California, and I'm in the Bay Area. Since Sunday no mail goes anywhere, 2 days to get to me was a decent shipping time. Especially compared to Birchbox, which would often take 2 weeks since it shipped from the East Coast. Anyway, I was really hoping for more makeup products this month - I personally don't want to get skincare samples, and in their first two boxes it looked like MyGlam was going to be a mostly makeup service. However, spoiler here - this month they have not lived up to that expectation. Here's some pictures to start you off:

The contents of my bag are as follows:
Pur-lisse Pur Protect SPF 30 Essential Daily Moisturizer - I'm not interested in skincare. I'm happy with my current moisturizer. This won't get used.
Murad Eye Lift Perfector - Same thing. This isn't going to get used.
DermStore $25 Giftcard - This is actually a spend $50, get $25 off type thing. Misleading, but I may use this in the end.
Murad Absolute Bronzing Boost SPF 15 - Eh, this is almost a makeup product. I prefer powder bronzer, though, and this will likely not get used either. I was hoping for the full size Pur-lisse Lip Nourisher thing, but nope.
Keracolor Color Enhancing Leave-in Treatment - I might use this and see if I like it. Hair products are okay in my book.

myGlam Classic Crease Brush & Case - This smells like gasoline, and it stank up the entire package. I'm serious. I stuck the case in my drawer of perfume samples (it smells like amazingness in there) and after the brush dries from its' washing, I will stick that in there too. The brush is pretty soft, and this will probably get used, although it's a bit big for my eyes. It's nice and fluffy, although it did shed in the first 5 seconds I held it, and a couple more hairs when I washed it:

Makeup bag - this has a cute flower pattern, and is made out of canvas. It feels pretty sturdy, although it's a big small, like the last one.

Overall, this bag was disappointing. My favorite item out of the bunch was the crease brush, and it smelled like gasoline. The fact that a stinky brush was my favorite item out of everything in this month's bag says something about it - I flat out didn't like it. I would really, really, really like to see more makeup in these bags, not skincare. I'll stay subscribed, but one more month like this and I'll have some serious doubts. Happy Monday, everyone!

February MyGlam Bag

Yes, I'm totally late with this post. But I got my bag very late since I was out of town when it was delivered. So by the time I got home and opened it, I didn't really feel the need to blog about it since it had already been reviewed hundreds of times. However, I thought I would do an individual mini review on some of the products included. Here's the entire bag:

Contents:
-$100 NuMe gift certificate - I might use this, the NuMe products have been getting good reviews. However, I would still have to pay a minimum of $15 if I got the cheapest product they have in terms of straighteners (which is what I'm interested in), the cheapest is the mini flatiron. I might or might not use it, it expires on August 31st so I have plenty of time to choose.
-Dead Sea Premier Cinderella mask - I'll use this eventually. I don't really care for skincare, because I'm very happy with my current skincare routine and am not interested in switching it up. I would much prefer makeup.
-Freeman Facial Hydration Mask Goji Berry - Again, more skincare. This will get used eventually, but I'm not thrilled to get skincare items. Nice size though.
-X Out Shine Control Moisturizer - This was even more skincare! However, I tried this instead of my regular moisturizer in the morning, as a sort of primer. I don't use primer on a regular basis, and I do like a matte face throughout the day. I had high hopes for this product. However, it did absolutely nothing to keep my face more matte throughout the day, which is frustrating - it didn't do what it promised to do. And the only way to get this if I had loved it was to get it as a free gift with purchase when I bought another X out product, the face wash. It was a nice size though.
-NYX Roll On Shimmer - I personally don't like roll on eyeshadow, and this was a bit too glittery for every day use. I did like the color though, a light nudey gold-brown. This will probably sit unused in my eyeshadow drawer, unfortunately. It was full size though, which I liked. Here's a swatch:

Altogether, it was a pretty decent bag. I really wish there wasn't as much skincare in the bag though, I would much prefer more makeup items. I have heard about customer service issues with MyGlam, although I have not experienced any of these myself. It does seem a bit annoying that they do not allow you to change your payment information, though. Hopefully they will get the issues with their customer service worked out soon! I will stay subscribed, hopefully next month's bag will have more actual makeup in it! Sorry for the very late post!

My Glam Bag Shipped!

I decided to subscribe to MyGlam after seeing the awesome first 2 bags that went out. I'm getting my first bag this month, in February. I've heard stories of awful customer service where people actually had to contact their banks in order to get their money back, and I was a bit annoyed when they said they would start shipping bags out on February 9th and finish shipping them February 14th, yet didn't ship any out until today, February 16th. I mean, isn't the idea of a Valentine's themed Glam Bag so that you can use it on actual Valentine's Day? I guess not. But anyway, I did get my bag shipped out today, here's the email they sent me:

Hopefully MyGlam will turn out to be a great service once they get the kinks in their system worked out, I think they're just having some issues, as they have quite a lot of subscribers and have maybe bitten off more than they can chew.
